God doesn't have any other material with which to build your life except His Word. He created the whole universe with his Word, and his power to save, lift and bless is in his Word. This is why Apostle Paul in Romans 1:16 says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” this means that God cannot save anyone outside the Gospel of Christ.
There are different kinds of meetings, and depending on its nature, the Spirit of God will be present to guide in the direction of the meeting. For example, if this meeting was a thanksgiving service, He'll be there to make the thanksgiving accepted to God, because God will not receive anything you offer to Him if it isn’t sanctified by the Holy Spirit. So when you come together for a thanksgiving service, the anointing will sanctify and present your offering to God. When you come for a prayer meeting, He inspires you to pray and He answers. If you want to have a prayer meeting, don’t spend 90% of your time teaching about prayer. During our healing services, we don’t teach about healing, we heal, and anything else comes later.
This is a finance Conference therefore the subject of discussion this week is about finances. Someone may ask; ‘why is it important that we talk about finances in the house of God?’ We do a lot of things with money, and we are going to be talking about how to multiply your finances. This is important because when you do, you would be able to help others; not just those around you, but those afar off too. With money you can do anything, except the things only God can do. This is why the bible says (Ecclesiastes 7:12) that money is a defense: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it. This shows us that wisdom gives life, but money doesn’t. Therefore when money cannot defend you, the wisdom of God will.
There are those who think you must be dishonest to have a lot of money. That’s not true. Money is not cash; it is a measure of value, and therefore a medium of exchange which can be used for the payment for goods and services.
Money speaks of value. What are you worth? What is the value of your time? What is the value of the time you spend at work? What is the value of your presence in a place at a time? Cash is what you get; it doesn’t say something about your value or personality. That’s why when a man steals money, he reduces himself. The money you have is not that which you use to make payment. Your actual value is how much you are worth as a person. This is why I always encourage people to add value to themselves. It is important to do so because when you add value to yourself, the time you spend at work will have more value, and others will be willing to pay for it. Let the investment you make in yourself be an agent of positive change. Your value is more important than the cash at hand. This is why you should work on improving yourself to increase your value.
As you add knowledge to yourself, you'll need someone to guide and teach you to translate that knowledge to become a positive power of change; and that's what this Finance Convention is about. Every day as the Word is shared, you'd find out that you're lifted, and by the close of the week, what you have learnt will be so seasoned that it'll become knowledge you can act upon that'll produce results.
Hebrew 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
2 Corinthians 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
When you got born again, you were born into a spiritual kingdom, even though you have a body with which you function in the earthly realms. Right now, you are living in the spiritual realm and the physical realm pari passu, because your body interacts with the physical world, while your spirit relates with the realms of the spirit.
The carnal man is limited to functioning only in the physical world. This limits him to many things because the physical world is controlled from the realms of the spirit. If God, who is a spirit created the physical world, this suggests the spirit world is greater that the physical, thus, proof positive that this world is controlled from the realms of the spirit. The events you find in nations don't happen; they at ordered from the realms of the spirit. This is why when we see certain occurrences here on earth, we are not surprised because we know where it’s coming from.
Jesus brought us reality. The prophets of old were not given to understand the operations of demons or angels. If someone was sick in their days, they’d take him to see a physician. It was until Jesus came and healed the sick by casting out spirits, because He could see the cause of the illness, which were beyond the physical eyes. Jesus opened our eyes to see what our optical eyes can’t see. He is the Word of God, and the Word illuminates, that's why we can now see why someone lost his job, a business suddenly crumbles, or a family with a ‘ceiling-point' that no one progresses beyond. The Word of God will show you the true picture of things from the spirit realm. The scriptures will bring light, and you can see.
Interestingly, many of these things affect Christians; they suffer things they shouldn’t because of ignorance. They wonder why they do everything to the best of their knowledge- that's the problem; their knowledge of the Word of God wasn’t enough.
Works- The Corresponding Action
Sometimes when you study the writings of Paul, you'll find out that your faith can just do anything. However, there was a Pastor in the scriptures, Pastor James, who was with his brethren every day, and found out that there were some things that weren't just working even though the brethren had ‘faith’.
James 2:14- 26
14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? 17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. 18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. 19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? 23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. 25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
The one who thinks faith without works is enough ... He called him a vain man, that means, devoid of truth.. Faith without the corresponding action is dead. He said Abraham was justified when he acted his faith. A man is justified not by faith alone, but by works too. As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
This is very important. Jesus used this principle in John 5. There was a man who couldn't walk for 38 years. The bible also shows us the character of this man because when Jesus asked him, do you want to get well, (he didn't know Jesus so) he complained in response instead of asking for help to get into the pool at the annual stirring of the water. Something to learn from here: instead of complaining about a problem, pray. Many people complain instead of praying, and this is a reason many remain in the same predicament for a long time as we can see from the example of this man who had suffered this long. Many times, some people complain, when they think they are actually praying.
When Jesus was going to minister to him, he said to the man; ‘get up, take your bed and go’. The healing was instant! He demanded an action from the man, something the man couldn’t do considering his state. One time, a man with a withered hand came to Jesus, and Jesus asked him to stretch forth his hand, and his hand became whole as the others beheld.
Another example is the blind man who was brought to Jesus and didn’t have eyes at all. Jesus spat on the ground, mixed it with clay, put it in his eyes, and asked him to wash in the pool of Siloam. He formed eyes! And the bible says the man went, washed, and came back seeing.
If you're going to walk with God, you’ll have to express your faith with your actions. Because faith without works is dead. Seed time and harvest
While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
God spoke these words. Notice he didn't say seed time and harvest time, because he can make your harvest anytime. Seed time means time for sowing seeds. When you sow your seeds, there'll be a harvest. But not so many understand the principles of sowing.
If you're here, and you're going through the same negative situation for many years, it shows you are not listening to what you think you are listening to. It’s just like someone who distributes Rhapsody or Realities freely but never reads it. I buy my Rhapsody of Realities, and I read it daily. If the messages in it will bless people, I’ll be smart to read it too. Being in a library doesn't mean you have read the books there. This is the sad case of many Christians who have the solution to challenges with them, yet suffer for a long time.
Galatians 6:7 (read verses 6, and 8- 10)
7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
This scripture has been used many times to address sin, but that's not true when you read it in context with the other above listed verses.
As we do good to people, it is counted as sowing seeds. The question is, what are you giving? The scripture says if you sow to the flesh, you’ll reap corruption (emptiness, corruption, failure). There are some people who give their tithes to charity. In God’s record, you didn’t give the tithe because you gave it according to your feeling, not God’s Word, because the scripture teaches to give your tithe to God, in the house of God, by giving it to the priest.
When you give money to the poor, it is your gift, not to God. Your offering to God is through the priest. Verse 7 lays emphasis on the fact that what a man sows, that he shall reap also. If you sow good works, you will reap the same. If you sow the word, understood and applied correctly it’ll produce results.
One of the things the spirit wants me to teach you, is about sowing financial seeds. . If you want to have financial rewards, you must sow money seeds. Sowing money seeds involves sowing money for the sole purpose of reaping money. This is not the same as sowing money as seed because of a health need, etc.
Now, this says nothing about the size of your seed because it is from your spirit that you give value to anything. What made the woman who gave two mites give more than others? |t wasn’t that she gave her all, but she gave what was all to her. You might give all that you have, but it might not mean much to you. You might give God your only and last television- but the real situation may be that you don’t watch the television. God doesn’t see value this way.
1 And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar. 2 And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of: 3 Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father; 4 And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; 5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws. 6 And Isaac dwelt in Gerar:
You might live in Nigeria, and think you might not be very successful because of the country, but from the scripture above, we see God instructing Isaac to remain in the land. When things went bad in the land the first time, Abraham ran to Egypt, which wasn’t a successful option. Now, it was Isaac's turn, but this time, God told him to stay in the land.
When you want to give your offering, do you just take it from your pocket straight to the offering bag? You should speak to your offering. Your words are so important in the kingdom of God that they determine your destiny. God has given us the gift of words to use to determine our destiny.
Learn to watch your seeds, because sowing a seed doesn’t guarantee a harvest; many things will happen to it just the same way it is with a seed you plant in the ground.
This year, add to what you do; if a farmer wants to get more results, he might change his technique, but not the law of sowing and reaping. There are seeds you sow for your business, health, academics, etc. This conference is about finances, so since we are dealing with financial increase, you should sow money seeds.
Have faith in your giving. If you could have so much faith in a pilot that you wouldn't ask for his qualifications, certify the engines are working with proof, or verify the pilot knew the air route to your destination, how much more God? Sometimes we have faith in men who fail. If you could enter a theatre with masked surgeons holding dangerous looking cutting weapons, and you know they’ll cut you, yet you’re confident they wouldn’t make mistakes, how much more God. Give a little bit of that confidence to God and watch your life change.
