THE  MATURE  CHRISTIAN  IN  THE  BODY  OF  CHRIST.

Ugo Olike Expert

'..For we all often stumble and fall and offend in many things. and if anyone does not offend in speech[ never says the wrong things], he is a fully developed character and a perfect man, able to control his whole body and to curb his entire nature..'

                                                                                                                  James 3: 2 [Amplified Version]

Our Man of God , Pastor Chris, has often said that if you  pray for someone, you would not be able to criticise or speak ill of the person. How true! In our lives, there are issues that border on maturity, namely-

  1. The perception we have of ourselves.
  2. The perception we have of another believer.
  3. The perception we have of Leadership in our local assembly and in the society.
  4. The perception we have of the whole Body of Christ.

What is Christian Maturity? Who is the Mature Christian? What are his/her conduct in the above-mentioned issues?

In this year 2012, the year of the Lordship and Dominion of the Word of God in our lives, as per maturity, what is God's expectation of us? Does God have an expectation concerning the maturity of his children? What is the mind of the Spirit concerning maturity?

I trust the Lord that as we journey in this discussion, the Love of God would be so lavishly shed abroad in our hearts like never before and a solid front would be presented against the enemy in our love walk, relationships, families, jobs, finances and in any and every circumstance concerning us.

Of Issue One on Maturity -

WHAT IS THE PERCEPTION WE HAVE OF OURSELVES?

Romans 12: 1-3 is on point as per this issue.

Individually, we sometimes think of ourselves either short of what the word says we are or we go overboard with what the word has said concerning us by having an exaggerated opinion of our own importance.

In our own perceptions, what do we think inwardly of ourselves? Do we think we are no good oftentimes? Remember, as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he! Do we think we are average as we have heard often of the expression ' an average christian'.? Did God make a new creation who is average? Or pompous? What manner of men ought we so to be?

Please lets throw more light on these issues!

    God Bless You!!!

As christian we are all ment to come to mautrity, thats why god has provided us with his word, and we have not only been taught to read and obey the word we must do it also. The more we left the word have dominion and manifest in our lifes the more mature we will become. As Pastor Chris says God is coming for a church without spots and Wrinkles and i feel mautrity is the key to this. God has given us his word and churches to fellowship in to perfect us for his coming. I Thank God everyday for christ embassy slough and Pastor Chris because they have impacted my life so much, and christ embassy slough has been catapulted to a higher level!

    DR RICHARD T MAKONI Master

PART 1:   I  agree  the  message  Growing unto  maturity  by  Pastor  Chris  is  a  master  piece   on  this  topic.  As  a  child  of  God  you  ought  to  grow  when  you  yield  to  the  Word  of  God  because  it  changes  our  mindset  and  our  way  of  doing  things.

You  measure  the  maturity  of  a  person  by  the  way  you  talk  a nd  interact  with  others,  the  way  you  see others.

The  bible  says    in  1CORINTHIANS13:11   "  when I  was  a child, I  spake as a child, I  understood  as   a child, I  thought  as :  BUT   WHEN  I  BECAME  A  MAN  , I PUT   AWAY   CHILDISH   THINGS"

Its  not  the  number  of  years  that  person  has  been  a  christian  or  how  old  is  that  person,  maturity  is  measured  by  the  amount  of  the  word  of  God  you  have  put  into  your   spirit  and  asa  we look  at  the  glory  of  God  the  mirror  of  God  we  are  metamophosed,  changed  transfigured  to  the  same  image  of God.

Above  all  we  copy  Jesus,  what  kind  of  person  was  Jesus,  what  was his  character  thats  what  we  ought  to  have.  He  looked at  everyone   with  love,  so  LOVE  is  the  strong  pivot,  strong  foundation.

In  1CORITHIANS 13 :13  SAYS "  and  now  abide eth  FAITH, HOPE, CHARITY(LOVE),  these  three,  but  the  greatest  of  these is charity (love)

How  true  ,  love  is  a  reflection  of  ones  ' growth  spiritually,  you  love  everyone  like  jesus  did  and  layed  his  life  for  us  all.

Remember  in  all  those  things  you  say  off  guard  not  those  things  you  say when  prepared,  that reveals  who  you  are  and  the  level  of  maturity

    DR RICHARD T MAKONI Master

    PART 2

THE way  you  see  and  look  others  is  very  important  in  the  body  of  Christ,  why  the  bible  says  God  resists  the  proud  and  gives  grace  to  the  humble,  so  humility  is  key  and  is  a cornerstone  of  maturity. This  explains  the  way  we  look  at  the  body  of  christ  ,  our  leaders  in  church  and  evry  one  you  meet. Look  at  them  with  love  ,  the  God  kind  of  love. Are  you  quick  to  critisize your  leaders  or  even  your  Pastor?.  The  bible  says  touch  not  my  anointed !!!!!!  thats  maturity.

2 CORINTHIANS 5:17  SUMS  IT  ALL,  if  any  man  be  in  Christ  ,  he  is  a  new  creation,  he is now  the  very  best  of  God ,  new  species ,  Holy,  and  the  Holy  Ghost  has  chosen  that  person  to  be  His  house.

God  expects  us  to  be  like  Him  because  He is  love.  As  He  is  so  I  we  in  this  world.

Attitude  also  is  a  measure  of  a person's maturity,  what  is  your  attitude  ?????  towards  ,    others.

Those  leaders   in  church  even  Pastors   are  gift  from  God  for  the  edification  of  the  church.

EPHESIANS 4: 11-12   "  and  he  gave  some , apostles . and  some , prophets;amd some evangelists, and some  pastors   and  teachers ; for  the  perfecting  of the  saints,  for the   work  of  the ministry, for the  edifying  of  the body  of  Christ."

So  we  should  have  one  mind.  We  honour  the  office  they  carry  and  we  are  blessed  to  have  them  for  my edification  praise  God !!!

We  are  not  ordinary  !!!  We  are  from  above ,  the  chosen  breed,  the holy  nation  and  the  royal  preisthood  !!!!!!

With out  walking  in  the  consciuosness of  who  you  are  in  Christ  Jesus,   that  is  that  important  commandment  the  master  gave  us LOVE,  the  devil  will  creep  into  your  job ,  family  ,  finances, marriage,  relationships  only  to  mention  a  few  without  knowing  though  you  will  be  praying  !!!!!!!

The word of God clearly tells us to Ephesians 4:23

    Amplified Bible (AMP)

23And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude],

As Brother Richard added one will be walking in love and you can measure the maturity by what one says in the church building and outside the church building!

As out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks! Luke 6:45

I remember one Wednesday when sister Tsungi was sharing the word of God, she used an example of a lady who experienced something bad, either someone had physically stepped on her toes or cursed her, well her first reaction was an outburst of tongues!

I was like wow, in some cases most people will kiss their teeth, give those eyes! Haaa!

Well this lady had surely arrived to maturity!

Also the scripture below has been quoted in one of Pastor Chris’s teaching broadcasted this week via the cell leader’s forum.

    Transformation by the Word.

    Romans 12:2

    Amplified Bible (AMP)

2Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].

How do we come to maturity?

By feeding our Spirit with the word of God indeed.

As Solomon so wisely observed in Ecclesiastes: “We work to feed our appetites. Meanwhile our souls go hungry” (Eccl. 6:7 MSG).

I will invest in that DVD Growing unto Maturity!
